Doubling Down With the Derricos spoilers and updates tease that the show first hit television during the pandemic days, and for the world, it was interesting to see how such a large family can not only afford to manage their day to day lives but also how they can possibly quarantine with 14 children. Gosh, one is a headache already, but 14 children made up of twins, quintets, and the coming of a triplet, what kind of madhouse would the parents, Karen and Deon Derrico, be running?
It was on 11, August 2020, that their pilot episode called Multiples Multiplied! first aired. It took a take on Karen and Deon Derrico’s family life, and their knack of conceiving multiples, quintets, twins, and all-natural, with triplets who seem to want to come out a lot faster than their due date.
The first season was only made up of 7 episodes, but that was enough to bring an admiring and fascinated audience. The couple told CNN that the show was their way of trying to show people struggling with having multiples, children who are dealing with health issues or losing children, all of which the Derricos have gone through and are now sharing their experiences with the world.
“We have a lot that we have dealt with, that we have gone through and we had no one to turn to,” Deon Derrico commented on CNN, “There was no book to read. There was no one that resembled us or resembled our situation that we could refer to.”
The show began with 11 children, with Karen pregnant with triplets in the first two episodes. The couple assured the public that all their children were conceived naturally and they did not use in vitro fertilization. Karen also said that she breastfeeds all her children, which is a subject that she strongly advocates, because she felt it was something she had to do as a mother, also stating that she came from a family that did not breastfeed children.
Fans who have warmed up to the large family in their brief 7 episode run last year have been asking when the next season will be released. Deon Derrico answered that question on his social media page and confirmed that TLC has renewed the show for a second season.
The Derrico family has a set of quintuplets, a set of triplets, two sets of twins, and two “singletons,” as they call their non-multiple children.
The first season of the show ended up with the couple dealing with the loss of one of their newly born triplets and Dawsyn’s surgery. All the while, the family tried to cope with quarantining due to the coronavirus and the lockdowns.
During a post that he made to wish his wife a happy birthday, a fan jumped on to ask when their show was coming back, Derrico replied, “Hello there, and thank you for your support we truly appreciate you! Yes, our show is coming back on and hopefully very soon! We haven’t been given the word yet but I heard it should be soon so please stay tuned.”
Fans are not only hoping for the return of the new season for Doubling Down with the Derricos, but are also hoping that it would be longer than its short-lived predecessor.
