The video follows a candid confession by Kate Middleton in which she shared that parenting and homeschooling, while still carrying out royal duties has her feeling, “exhausted.” In the new clip she encouraged parents to “look after” themselves while this “hugely challenging time,” continues to dominate lives around the globe.

According to the mother of three, it is important for moms and dads to be, “the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.”

Royal Family News: Duchess of Cambridge Launches Children’s Mental Health Week Video

Children’s Mental Health Week debuted in the UK in 2015. It was launched by Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity of which Kate is a royal patron. The group’s goal is raising awareness of mental health for children and young people.

Kate went on to say, “This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings. So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry – it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself.”

She then reminded parents, “And while this is Children’s Mental Health Week there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too.”

Royal Family News: Kate Middleton Is Speaking out About Mental Health

Last year Kate released the findings of her significant study on childhood development. The data revealed that a vast majority of individuals (90%) stated that maintaining good parental mental health was key to being able to support their children’s health and wellbeing. Yet, many respondents admitted that paying attention to their state of mind was not always a priority they were able to meet.

To kick off Children’s Mental Health Week, which takes place from February 1-7, Place2Be has partnered with Oak National Academy and Bafta Kids to develop a free assembly celebrating this year’s theme, “Express Yourself.”
