Bridgerton Season 1 Smashes Records – Becomes Netflix’s Most Successful Series Ever

Bridgerton Season 1’s hot and steamy scenes along with it’s very photogenic cast, gorgeous Regency-era styling and setting and engaging plot twists have managed to make it become Netflix’s most successful series ever. There is a new report that says the Shondaland hit has just exceeded Netflix’s original viewership projections by a huge margin. Here’s what you need to know.

Bridgerton Season 1 Smashes Records: Becomes Netflix’s Most Successful Series Ever

The hugely popular Netflix series Bridgerton tells the story of eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family as they attempt to find love during the Regency era in England. According to Deadline, a record-breaking 82 million households from all over the world have been watching all eight episodes since it made its debut on Christmas Day.

The figure is 19 million households higher than the four-week projection that Netflix issues about 10 days into Bridgerton’s run. At the time, it was the online streaming giant’s fifth biggest launch but managed to quickly make its way to the top spot in no time.

Bridgerton was created by Shondaland producer Chris Van Dusen and is based on Julia Quinn’s novels. The series has taken the number one spot in 83 countries including the US, UK, Brazil, France, India and South Africa. The only place that it hasn’t made the top ten was in Japan.

Some critics believe that the timing of the show’s debut might have a lot to do with its success, as many people from around the world have been left exhausted by strict quarantine measures that have been put in place in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Bridgerton Spoilers: Love, Romance And Joy In The Regency Era

“I think the show really provides an incredible escape for audiences at a time where that’s exactly what’s needed,” Chris Van Dusen said in a statement last week when the series Season 2 renewal was announced. ”Bridgerton is this lavish, vibrant, steamy Regency love story; it is about romance, love and joy; I think all of those things are really universal themes people are responding to.”

Filming of Bridgerton Season 2 is expected to begin this spring. We will update you with all of the latest information as it comes in!
