Visit The World’s Animal Kingdoms From Your Couch

While your world may have shrunk to a living room size right now, there is no reason not to enjoy the animal world from home.

Being locked down for the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t mean you have to miss out on some of the most beautiful wildlife scenes in the world. The following websites and webcams can give you access to many wonders.

South African Wildlife Cams

You can tune into a number of live webcams in South African game reserves including Addo Elephant Park near Port Elizabeth, or the fascinating Nossob in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Also visit a variety of sites in the iconic Kruger National Park, where you are likely to spot at least one member of the famous Big 5 group of wildlife, i.e. elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and Cape buffalo.

Baby Osprey Cam

Resembling one of Norway’s slow TV shows, bird lovers will enjoy watching the osprey family, as they nest and breed. This webcam has been trained on the bird’s platform by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.

The location is the York River, Gloucester Point, Virginia. Keep up with the baby birds as they grow under their parents’ loving care.

Penguin Cams

Staying with birds, penguins are a much-loved species, with their smart tuxedos and comic gait. You can enjoy views of the life of the Magellanic penguins in the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California.

Manatee Cam

Watching the webcam at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Florida is a beautiful and relaxing experience. Here you will see the manatees meeting up around a natural spring. The charming manatees are obviously relaxed and in no hurry as they swim slowly around. However, every now and then you get to see one of these fascinating mammals plopping down to the bottom, before heading back to drift happily on the surface of the water.

Every now and then viewers get lucky as one of the manatees gets close to the web camera. They almost seem to know it is there as they boop the camera with their nose. Besides the manatees, you will often see schools of fish swooping around in the blue-green water.
