If you’re heading to Disney sometime soon, there will likely be just one little thing that you’re dreading. The queues at attractions can be utterly unbearable. Standing in line for hours on end is probably not how you imagined your vacation going, so what can you do about it?
Well, you may not realize it, but there are actually many small ways in which you can beat the queues. If you’re a savvy person, you should have absolutely zero problems saving yourself some time along the way. Not sure where to start? You’ve come to the right place. Check out these tips.
Be an early bird
The park tends to be much, much quieter in the morning hours. If you’re willing to get up, washed, and breakfasted nice and early, you may find that it pays off. Much of the time, people don’t arrive at the attractions until 10 or even 11. That means that if you get up early enough, you can beat the crowds.
Plan your route
Before you enjoy a day in the park, you should make sure that you make a plan. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. You can download maps online so that you know just where you need to go and when you need to go there. Genius.
Queue during showtimes
Of course, one thing that Disney is famous for is its parades and even firework displays. When these things are happening, the rides are emptier than you may imagine. Take the chance to get on one of them.
Use the free FastPass+ system
Most people don’t even know this but the FastPass+ system is 100% free to use. All you have to do is choose three rides that you want to visit each day. Disney will then give you an hour’s window in which you can ride them without having to wait.
Be a single rider
When you’re traveling with a family, this is something that you should definitely consider. Being a ‘single rider’ means that you get to wait in a different (and shorter) line than the rest of the crowds.
Skip the afternoon rush
Disney reaches its peak capacity at around 2 pm. This is not the time to be waiting in lines at all. You will just end up wasting a whole load of your day. Instead, plan a break at this point. Perhaps you could go for lunch or just take a quick nap.
Make use of apps
There are loads of Disney apps out there that tell you about the wait-time of each ride. If you download one, you will be able to see to-the-minute times for everything.
Stay there late!
Finally, here’s a tip that will really help you out. If you stay up super late, the crowds tend to thin out a little. That means that being a night owl will help you skip the queues.
