Below is a list of things that I experienced when I was pregnant with Rose and Ella.
You have to remember that your belly will be slightly larger. Having twins’ means, you should expect that. But, nothing compares to what you go through.
I remember complaining of extreme fatigue when I was pregnant. I couldn’t last a day without taking several naps. Furthermore, I experienced eased morning sickness.
When I went to the doctor, he explained to me that fatigue was as a result of having two placentas inside, each requiring nutrients and sucking it right from my body.
Having Rose and Ella meant that I needed to eat more. Fortunately, this was not going to be a problem. The twins needed food and I, on the other hand, had the appetite for it. Don’t be shocked, though; you won’t gain a lot of weight. That is because most of the food taken inside your body is broken down into nutrients, which are sent into the placenta to “feed” the twins.
With twins, you’ll have to visit the doctor more frequently. It’s a good thing because your doctor keeps checking on you on an often basis. On the contrary, you have to be checked by several doctors who check several things. Therefore, you will need some time off your job if it involves you being at your desk.
When Daniel and I visited the doctors, I was always anxious. That is because every visit uncovered new potential health complications that affected either the twins or myself, which had to be addressed.
Drinking water will have to be a part of you, if you’re not used to it, that’s because 70% of the body is water. On the contrary, you’ll have to do away with the beer or too much coffee. That is because, whatever you take, some of it goes through the placenta to “feed” the twins.
I wasn’t much of a big water drinker before having Rose and Ella, but I had to be.
Is having twin pregnancy harder? Yes, it is. However, it is an amazing experience where you get to learn a lot too. Have you had twins? Share your experiences with us below!
