How to Avoid Exhaustion at Walt Disney World Resorts

Taking your little ones to a Walt Disney World Resort can be a truly enriching experience for the entire family. After all, there’s just nothing better than going on rides, meeting the characters, and enjoying the time together to make a memorable vacation. In the past, I’ve taken my three kids along to a couple of resorts. While it can be fun (so much fun!), it can also be a little exhausting.

If you want to make the best of your day, you absolutely need to make sure that you don’t get too tired too quickly. Aside from wearing decent shoes and making sure that you get a good night’s rest, there are some other tips I’d like to share with you. Here are some of the ways that you can avoid burning out while having the time of your life.

Stay as close to the parks as possible

Okay, this one totally depends on your finances. You should try to stay as close to the parks as possible. If you have to travel an hour or more just to get to the attractions, you will be exhausted before you even start. Many of the resorts have hotels on site. If you can’t afford to stay in an official Disney hotel, you should look for other accommodation nearby. You may want to check out HouseTrip or even Airbnb before you travel so you can get a cheap deal.

Get a FastPass if you can!

Again, if you can afford it, this is well worth doing. Spending the entire day waiting in queues is zero fun and can actually be very tiring. For a few extra bucks, you might be able to get your hands on a FastPass ticket. Do it! You won’t regret it.

Bring actual cash out with you

Queuing is all part and parcel of going to a Disney resort, but you shouldn’t have to wait in line for basic things like cash! I made this mistake once in the past and it was an absolute nightmare. Pick up some cash before you head to the park. That way, you will have one less thing slowing you down.

Take your own snacks along too

Food equals energy, and don’t you forget it! If you’re on your feet all day long, having healthy snacks with you could make all the difference. Make sure that you pack things like carrot sticks, apples, and oat bars. These things will give you (and your kids) the energy you need to keep going. Trust me, this one is a lifesaver.

Plan the rides you need to go on

Do you have a plan of action? If not, why on earth not? These parks are notoriously big. That means that you could easily end up walking around them aimlessly if you’re not sure where you’re going. Your kids will certainly have some choice rides that they will want to go on! (I know that mine always do!) Planning out where you want to go will mean that you don’t miss out on anything you want to see and you won’t wear yourself out in the process.

Reserve tables in advance

If you’re planning on having a family meal in the evening at the resort, you absolutely need to make sure that you book a table. Often, the Disney restaurants will be seriously busy. That means that when you turn up, they could leave you waiting for an hour or even more. When you’ve already had a long, tiring day, that’s the last thing you want. Book in advance so you can fuel up on food when you need it the most!

Take things at your own pace

The most important thing you need to remember is to take things at your own pace. Rushing your way through the park is just plain silly. Instead, you need to slow things down and enjoy the experience. That’s what I always try to do anyway. Taking things at a reasonable pace will stop you getting exhausted and means you will love every minute of the day! Good luck.
