Moms are constantly busy and sometimes it feels like we can’t get a minute to ourselves. With active nine-month-old twin girls and an always on-the-go kindergartener, I understand this well! Extra help is a blessing, but it can’t alway come in the form of another person-dad or grandma taking over. So, sometimes we have to improvise and make it work when we are on our own. Over time I have figured out certain activities and baby products that can make my life a little easier. Here are five things that have become my best friends when I need a little break from the joys of motherhood.
Naps
Nap when the baby naps. As a mom, you have probably heard this countless times, but it’s so true! When those sweet little angels are taking a nap be sure to sneak one in yourself no matter how tempted you are to do the dishes, fold clothes, or mop up the syrup leftover from breakfast. Sticky floors can wait! In the end, you will be a happier mom, woman, wife, and in general human being if you’re rested. Snuggle right up to those bundles and have a snooze fest whenever you can! The added bonus is that this is amazing bonding time with your children and wake up time will be the sweetest moments of your day.
Play Dates
Play dates may seem like a hassle, but there a great way to sneak in some grownup time over coffee. Your kids get an opportunity to socialize as well and learn important social skills while just having fun ( this also has the benefit of tiring them out for those all important naps!)
Lists
Mom Brain is a real thing, it happens and the more kids you have the worse it can be. Remember how you used to laugh at your mom when she walked into a room and forgot why she was there? Well, this is now your reality! So, keep a pad and paper handy so you can jot down everything you need like milk, eggs, diaper cream, and chocolate.
Travel Play Yard
These are fantastic for hotel stays, visiting the in-laws, or even at home for playtime when you need a break from little crawlers. Toss in a couple safe toys and give them a little quiet space. They will learn to explore and amuse themselves too. Plus, play yards can easily be moved from room to room as well!
Video Monitor
A video monitor may be one of the most valuable baby products a parent can have! My Philips Avent SCD 630/37 Video Monitor allows me to get the much-needed break I need at the end of the day. I can sit downstairs with my husband, yet still feel close to the twins and reassured that they’re safe. With the portable video monitor, you can also keep an eye on your little one while catching up on phone calls, replying to an email, and even watching that series you have been dying to see!
As an added benefit, the Philips Avent SCD 630/37 Video Monitor also has a comforting night light and lullabies to calm babies into sweet slumber. So, if baby wakes up during the night you don’t have to go running to his/her room right away.
These are some other features to love about the Philips Avent SCD 630/37 Video Monitor:
Other moms also love the Philips Avent SCD 630/37 Video Monitor. It won the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval (PTPA).Which means that the products have been put in the hands of real parents to be rigorously tested and later reviewed. Each of these products has won the seal for use in their packaging and marketing initiatives to tell other parents that they’ve been truly tried and tested.
