The two necklaces from the collaboration were made to benefit the (RED) charity organization. Net proceeds from the sales of the heart-shaped necklaces will provide nine or 27 months of lifesaving medication to pregnant HIV-positive women in Africa through the Global Fund, a beneficiary of (RED).
“We realized that hearts were a perfect metaphor for this project…it’s an easy, elegant design that women can keep close to their hearts,” Alba told.
“We’re both moms so it really hits home,” the wife of Tobey Maguire added. “Imagine that feeling of transferring something to your child. It’s the worst thing in the world, and there are ways to prevent it.”
