Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Take Their Twins to Cirque Du Soleil Totem Premiere

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka attended the opening of Cirque du Soleil’s TOTEM with their twins Harper and Gideon at  The Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA on Monday (Jan. 21).

The How I Met Your Mother actor was dressed in a suede vest, a white dress shirt with tie and jeans as he affectionately held Harper close. His partner wore a green leather jacket with a dress shirt, a matching tie and jeans while holding Gideon.

Last summer, Harris spoke of how his life has changed since becoming dad.

“When you have kids, everything anchors to their wants and needs, so you get less sleep and have to be more aware all the time. You have to be adaptable because they constantly keep changing. They’ll do something that blows your mind and then they’ll spit all their food out on the carpet,” he told USA Weekend.

He added that he has grown into his role as the twins have aged.

“The older they get, the more I love being a dad. Now that they’re talking, I’m really loving the camp counselor end of parenting. I think that’s where my strengths lie,” he continued, while adding, “I’m all about reasoning. If they fall and are OK but crying, David will be the hugger, and I’ll be the ‘Show me where it hurts; let’s talk about it’ one. I come from a family of lawyers, so explanation is crucial.”

The family recently vacationed in Mexico.
