Sesame Street Big Hugs Elmo #HolidayGiftGuide

Any 90’s kid will remember the hysteria that came along with the popular Tickle Me Elmo. It was was the hottest holiday gift and I remember searching everywhere for him because my little cousins had to have him. What kid didn’t want to be tickled by the loveable red monster from Sesame Street?

This holiday season Elmo is back, but rather than tickles he’s giving hugs! Playskool and Hasbro have brought the Big Hugs Elmo to the next level in interactive toys.  Not only does Elmo give hugs when a child hugs him, but he speaks, sings and even snores! His is of a more realistic size, but light enough for a toddler to carry around the house.

There are 50+ animated sounds and phrases like, “Elmo loves getting hugs from you,” “Let’s pretend we’re rabbits! Boing, boing, boing,” and “Move to the beat!” When children lay Big Hugs Elmo down in a flat position, he’ll become sleepy, sing a lullaby and make sleeping sound effects.

There’s no secret that my daughter, Ava is obsessed with Sesame Street. For her second birthday we threw her a Sesame Street themed party and she has all the Sesame Street toys from Playskool and Hasbro. So,  I was interested to see if she would like the Big Hugs Elmo.

When I first showed Ava the toy she was a little nervous because his mouth started to move. It took her about a day to warm up to him, but once she did he quickly became one of her favorite toys. In the above video, you can clearly see that Ava loves her Big Hugs Elmo.  She hugs him and even gives big kisses.

The Big Hugs Elmo is the perfect sleep companion. Not only can a child hug Elmo asleep, but he has a setting that helps soothe the child asleep too.

Beware that product doesn’t come with batteries and requires 4 “”AA”” batteries.

The Bigs Hugs Elmo is definitely going to swinging off the shelves this holiday season!
