The Hottest Picture Books For You And Your Baby

It’s never too early to start reading to that little baby of yours. Celebs read to their children (I have to mention the word celeb at least once in this article), and with all the fantastic bestselling picture books and board books out there so should you!

There are some classic picture books out there that are essential to every developing lil’ baby nugget’s library, including the international bestsellers Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, which is the number one bestselling book on the 0-2 years old category on Barnes & Noble.com.

Here are the some of hottest picture books on the market right now:

  1. The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Board Book)
    by Eric Carle
  2. Guess How Much I Love You (Board Book)
    by Sam McBratney
  3. On the Night You Were Born
    by Nancy Tillman
  4. Goodnight Moon (Board Book)
    by Margaret Wise Brown
  5. Daddy Kisses
    by Anne Gutman

It’s very interesting to note that most of these books aren’t necessarily new. They are several years old. Just goes to show that when a story strikes a cord with the heart and souls of their readers they tend to stick around for a long, long time.

Other books that you and your child might particularly enjoy are:

The Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg, a book that helps parents teach their children that it’s okay — and sometimes even essential — to make mistakes in life.

Toes, Ears, & Nose!: A Lift-the-Flap Book by Marion Dane Bauer and Karen Katz. This is a bright, colorful board book sure to keep your baby’s attention as it works to teach them what is hiding underneath “their bundles of clothes!” The great thing about this book is that it’s interactive, something publishing houses are striving to do more and more these days.

Daddy Cuddles by Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben, which uses cute animals to describe parental love, particularly between the father and newborn. This book is beautifully illustrated in a unique style. By the same author and illustrator, their is also Mommy Hugs.

These are just a few titles that caught my attention, and I urge you, if you haven’t started already, to start reading to your children. Words are a powerful medium. Not only do they help jumpstart your child’s literary journey, they actively engage you and your child’s imagination — a magical tool with the power to take you anywhere!
