Having Twins 5 Things You Should Know

When I got Rose and Ella, most of my friends kept on saying that they’d want to have twins too. Many ladies want to have twins, and sadly, not many of them are aware of the amount of work ahead of them. My pregnancy with the twins was far much different than that of Ava. Here are some things every mother who is pregnant with twins or is planning to be someday should know:

  1. Pregnancy Maybe A Bit Rough

Being pregnant with twins was something totally new and tiring for me! Carrying two kids inside the mother ship may not be as easy as it’s assumed to be. During the pregnancy, our physician encouraged me to have some quality bed rest. Sadly, as the pregnancy progressed, I had fewer shots of sleep hours.

  1. Exercise in The First Few Months

I miss the amazing body shape I had before getting the twins. Nevertheless, the first few months of pregnancy were the best. I was basically still in shape. That was the best time I utilized in doing some exercises. These exercises helped my muscles contract and relax at ease, which made giving birth easy. To some extent, it did relieve me of the pain of giving birth.

  1. Give Each Equal Attention

If you’re pissed off by one kid demanding attention, then you’re in for a ride! Before having Rose and Ella, Daniel and I were not used to the fact that kids would want a lot of attention since we just had Ava. Having twins required use to put more effort. First of all, I had to feed both of them together and sometimes at different times. Secondly, I had to play with both of them.

  1. Avoid Favorites

It’s so easy for parents to end up picking favorites between their twins. I mean, it wasn’t easy for us at first. You have to learn to treat each of them equally. Being affectionate to one more than the other can be felt. Don’t assume you can hide it! If for instance, we were buying a toy, we considered buying toys that were of the same color and type.

  1. Team Work is Mandatory

Raising twins requires team work from both parents. There are countless times where Daniel has been there to help me. At times it can get crazy having all the kids all up in the house. Together with your partner, you may decide to take shifts. Surprisingly, this increased the bonding between the kids and their father.
