The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Why Did Cane Want Holden To Get Close To Mariah?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) motive for targeting Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is finally revealed.

When Cane gave Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) the order to get close to Mariah, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), the Y&R viewers were confused as to why Cane would want information on Mariah.

We understood why he would want info on Chelsea, Adam, and Claire. They are Newmans, and it’s clear Cane aims to take over Newman Enterprises and all the companies under it, including Newman Media. But what did any of this have to do with Mariah?

Cane’s Motives Are Tied To The Newmans’ Kinda

The Young and the Restless spoilers state that Cane wants to take over all the major businesses in Genoa City. We know he wants Jabot, Chancellor Industries, Newman Enterprises, and Winters (formerly Hamilton-Winters). But is it possible he could be looking to acquire Cassidy First as well?

If that’s his goal, Mariah would be a good person to get intel on. She is Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) right-hand businesswoman, knowing everything about the company. Not only that, he may be looking for blackmail material that could make the Newmans fold under pressure.

Y&R fans will recall that Cane framed Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) for Damian Kane’s (Jermaine Rivers) murder, holding him and Sharon in a room with a bodyguard.

Cane had Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) approach Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) to exchange Nick’s innocence for Chancellor Industries. It was a shady business deal, proving Cane wants to get his hands on Chancellor by any means necessary.

Mariah Becomes A Casualty Of Cane’s Business

Cane could want to get leverage with the Newman fight over Newman Enterprises. The Young and the Restless spoilers state that Cane might not know about Mariah’s business trip secret, but he may discover that scoop soon.

The viewers know that Mariah snapped and killed an older businessman in the hotel room. It’s a secret she hasn’t told anyone yet.

Newmans. She isn’t a Newman, but she is Sharon’s daughter and someone Nick cares deeply about. That, compounded with his possible interest in Cassidy First, makes Mariah a focal point for the con man turned businessman.

The Young and the Restless spoilers state that Mariah will soon reveal her business trip to someone. The speculation is that she will tell her mother, knowing she would understand. Let’s hope Cane doesn’t eavesdrop on their conversation, as he would likely use that information to get leverage on Sharon and Mariah.
