It’s likely that Martin is feeling quite pleased with himself regarding the uneasy truce between Phyllis and Sharon. One can easily picture him reveling in his perceived success, expecting gratitude from them for his twisted experiment.

However, the truth remains that Phyllis and Sharon went through one of the most traumatic chapters of their lives during their captivity. Given Martin’s unstable and sociopathic nature, both women will certainly make their feelings known if they come face to face with him in prison.

At least we assume this is Martin, and not Alan with a grief-induced case of DID, although how Martin switched clothes with Alan while falling from that balcony is still a mystery! Could confronting Martin and unleashing her fury be just what Phyllis needs to find closure; the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the kidnapper may be adding to Phyllis’s feelings of unrest.

Once Martin is identified as the voice behind the cryptic messages and twisted puzzles, it could pave the way for Phyllis’s healing journey.

Once the police have Martin in custody, Phyllis and Sharon might unleash their frustrations on him, providing them both with some much-needed peace.
