The Horton family has been shrouded in mystery regarding the missing necklace from the time capsule, a fact well-known to fans.

During Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) funeral, Ciara Weston Brady ( Victoria Konefal) finally opened the long-awaited box, leading the family to celebrate the discovery of various cherished items.

Around the same time, Doug Williams III (portrayed by Peyton Meyer) made his entrance into the storyline, coinciding with the disappearance of the treasured necklace.

Many in the Horton family suspected Steve Olson (played by Stephen Schnetzer), given Julie Williams’ (Susan Seaforth Hayes) brother’s questionable history in Salem. However, it was ultimately revealed to viewers that Doug III was the one who had taken the necklace.

DOOL Spoilers: Hope Was Suspicious

As Julie welcomed Doug 3.0 into her home with open arms, the rest of the family followed suit. However, Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) couldn’t shake her unease about the new Horton man.

She shared her suspicions with Jennifer Horton Deveraux (Melissa Reeves), who now seems to be keeping a watchful eye on Doug as well.

In the Days preview for the week of December 16-20, a scene reveals Doug standing at Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) hotel room door, clutching the stolen necklace and seeking assistance to sell it.

The preview then cuts to Jennifer expressing her belief to Julie that Doug may be behind the theft-the question remains: will Julie be persuaded by Jennifer’s concerns?

Leo is on a path to redemption, striving to improve himself. He is likely to refuse Doug’s request to assist in pawning the expensive jewelry and may even seek to expose Doug’s actions.

Fans might remember that Leo was at Horton Square enjoying a drink with Steve when Ciara and Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) confronted them about the missing necklace, demanding answers.

During that encounter, it was noted that Leo had previously stolen Abigail Deveraux DiMera’s (last portrayed by Marci Miller) jewelry after her death and attempted to sell it. If Leo decides to come forward now, will anyone take him seriously-could Doug twist the narrative to protect his own reputation?

DOOL Spoilers: Julie Is Likely To Believe Doug Over Leo-At Least At This Point!

If Leo shows up with the necklace in his hands, claiming Doug was the one who stole it, and the young man denies the accusations, who’s story would Julie accept?

Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest that as Doug has just entered storylines, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll get exposed for any wrong doings, anytime soon. This arc is just the beginning of the havoc he’ll cause the Horton family, for whatever reason.

Hope made a vow to Doug when she left town that if he did anything to hurt her family, she’d make sure he’d pay. She’s set to return to Salem in 2025, so Doug’s reign of terror will probably continue until then, and possibly into the summer and fall!
