However, Lily also believes that Jill can withstand whatever Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has up his soapy sleeve. His complex plan includes taking Chancellor back from Jill, but he’s purposely withheld any details.

So, it’s reasonable to believe that Victor will seize control shortly. Yet, Jill is healthy and has reasserted control of the company she purchased from Victor after Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) death.

Katherine gave Victor Chancellor Industries in her will. Devoted viewers recall that Katherine’s death was written into the show months after Cooper died.

The build-up to that storyline came a while after Cooper’s passing and still resonates through today. Major kudos to all involved for keeping Katherine’s name alive in Genoa City, Wisconsin, through Chancellor Park and the ongoing use of her company and its name, which includes the current tale.

Victor eventually decided to sell the company to Jill, believing he didn’t need it in his portfolio. He also thought that the peace Jill and Katherine achieved was enough to allow Walton’s character to own the company.

However, Victor was flabbergasted when learning that Jill allowed Billy to take over for her. News about her heart issues wasn’t enough to justify allowing Billy-boy to become responsible for Katherine’s legacy.

So, the head of Newman Enterprises began developing a plan that included allowing Billy time to screw up. Sure enough, that happened, and he fired Lily, who Jill had explicitly installed to keep him in check. That bulwark didn’t hold.

Only sometimes. There have been moments where Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has bested him, if momentarily. Also, various women have caused him great consternation.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), being the true love of his life, has often exhibited the most remarkable ability to throw Victor off. Yet, those two love birds reunited years ago and are solid.

Chancellor is Victor’s gift to the woman he lovingly calls his baby. Nikki loves the idea of heading her best friend’s company. However, she’s wondering if Lily’s belief in Jill’s resolve might prevent or at least obscure Victor’s latest business scheme.

It’s reasonable to believe that Victor will take Chancellor this fall. But the longer this process goes, Nikki’s concern will grow.
