Lydia Plath Resents Being The Family Servant?

Welcome to Plathville star Lydia Plath hasn’t had much opportunity to rebel like her sister Moriah. And, she hasn’t had the opportunity to jump on a bike and drive nine thousand miles away from her problems. But, is she starting to show some resentment that she lives much of her life being a domestic servant to her family? Read on to find out what TLC fans think, 

Lydia Plath Doesn’t Get Much Freedom

TLC fans will recall that Kim and Barry Plath made a huge drama because their daughter, Lydia texted a boy. After that, she spent a lot of time in her prayer closet. Also, Welcome to Plathville fans felt sorry for her cloistered life. She does get way now than then, but, it seems confined to ministry missions with the church. 

When Kim Plath was at home before she left Barry, she didn’t seem to do much around the house. And notably, it was Lydia Plath who seemed to step up for her younger sisters after the split. Meanwhile, Moriah was doing Moriah things like fighting with boyfriends, making depressing music, and getting tattoos.

Lydia Does Most Of The Work 

Big sister Hosannah had left the family and gone her way, never to appear on the TLC show. So, it was Lydia who the work fell to next. Recently, Welcome to Plathville fans discussed the work that the next oldest daughter seemed to do and it became obvious that she did the lion’s share of the work for the family and her siblings. 

On Reddit, TLC fan u/Sufficient_Self9341 raised the subject of Lydia Plath. In part, they wrote:

What’s with Lydia doing all the housework?… All of the kids, according to their age and skill level, should have regular chores. But what’s up with Lydia pretty much doing everything? Seldom do they show Kim in the kitchen cooking, cleaning, or doing anything else that the wife and mother in this type of family structure would normally do… she just leaves the kitchen and Lydia immediately begins cooking or cleaning or whatever.

Kim Plath’s Daughter Gets Resentful?  

In the discussion section of the post, Welcome to Plathville fans talked about Kim Plath and her daughter. Some of them felt that Lydia Plath resents being the general dogsbody in the home. Here are those comments:

• She must be starting to feel taken advantage of with Barry and Kim now being accepting of all her siblings individuality and choices, while she’s constantly stayed under their thumbs the whole time, working her ass off to please them and missing out on living her life …
• I do suspect Lydia has a lot of resentment she tries to hide even from herself. I watched the episode where Ethan and Olivia have a surprise dinner birthday party for Moriah. I thought I saw a flash of bitterness on Lydia’s face as if she were wondering why Moriah is getting special treatment when she’s the one keeping the household running…
• They made a short doc (it’s on youtube) and Hosanna was the original Lydia that did all the work. What has Kim ever done except pop out kids and be bad at driving[?]
