Days Of Our Lives lost a legend when Drake Hogestyn, who played John Black for decades passed away. Fans then learned that much like John Aniston, Victor Kiriakis, Drake’s final episode aired long before his death could be written into the script. Will John’s demise imitate Victor’s?

Limitations To An Onscreen Exit

Once an actor has passed away, there are limitations to how they can be written out of the show. After all, it’s not like they can be there to do final scenes with their families or anything of the sort.

This was the case with Victor who died in a plane crash orchestrated by Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos). Will John’s death be written in the same way?

John was a partner in Black Patch with Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), so John traveling out of the country isn’t exactly a stretch.

However, it would be a little bit repetitive if John were to die the same way his former father in law did. Will the writers come up with a more creative way to have this icon actor exit the show?

DOOL Spoilers: John Black Would Have Died Saving Someone

John was always Marlena’s hero and the love of her life. However, John had many enemies throughout the years as well. Orpheus (George DelHoyo) has been one of John’s biggest enemies.

Could John possibly go after Orpheus for something and be killed off while on the chase? John was a man of action, could John possibly die saving the woman he once thought he killed.

John was also growing very close to his father. Something could happen at the home that he is in and John could die saving his life. John would do anything for family.

A simply plane crash would not do him justice as the heroic character he has always been. Will the writers give John the justice he deserves as he gets his send off the great beyond?

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Will Dick Van Dyke Return?

Tim Robicheaux (Dick Van Dyke) spent years looking for his son before he made his way to Salem. However, once he got there, they realized that Timothy was John’s father.

After spending some time getting to know his family, Tim moved into an assisted living facility. John had recently mentioned that he had just been to visit his dad.

Will Dick reprise the role of Timothy for John’s funeral/memorial service? Tim and John have grown very close, it only seems right that he would be there as well as the rest of the family.

Of course, this would likely depend on Dick’s health considering it won’t show for roughly six months or so. Would you like to see Timothy return to say his final goodbye to John? Will John get a proper sendoff in the end?
