The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is incapable of self-awareness. He blames Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) for blowing up his second attempt at a relationship with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
Chelsea is equal to Adam because she made the same mistake he did in Baltimore, Maryland. She should have stopped him, just like he should have stopped her. But that didn’t happen, and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Sally were hurt.
If Sally is brilliant, and she is, she will not take Adam back. But Billy and Chelsea have a chance to survive.
Billy is in the throes of what appears to be a doomed business venture. His so-called Abbott-Chancellor company has one executive left and a rarely-seen secretary, Esther Valentine (Kate Linder).
Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) does not like what he’s seeing. With Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) being fired, Chance has to decide.
While his last name is on the marketing materials, like Billy’s, Chance does not wield the same power as his uncle. Billy’s way will rule and likely take the company down shortly. Chance sees catastrophe coming. So, why stay?
There were times when Adam was right to blame his father for ridiculous interference. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is an unrepentant manipulator and encourages his son to embrace the darker side of his personality. He’s no father-of-the-year candidate.
But Victor holds no blame for the way Adam treated Sally. Lying to her face about being with Chelsea was cruel. It also reinforces Sally’s belief that Adam has not changed, and she can’t trust him.
He pointed any of his fingers at Chelsea, after all he’d put her through in the past, and considered that Connor Newman’s (Judah Mackey) recovery was wrong. But Adam is about Adam; he knows that Sally is likely lost for good now.
Sally is a vivacious, intelligent, and talented woman. She can and should do better than Adam.
While no one in Genoa City, Wisconsin, can tell another person who to love, an outside observer can.
The message to Sally is direct. She can not allow Adam to put himself inside her mind ever again. She knows that he has that power over her and will exploit it. That is not love.
Like Victor, Adam is a manipulator. He is self-loathing and self-centered. Maybe he will redeem his life someday. But in the meantime, Sally needs to live her life without him.
Adam will fight this trending decision. He’ll yell, scream, and probably cry on Chelsea’s shoulder. We’ll see if the writing staff allows her to let him back into her heart. Unless he never left it?
