BTS Jungkook’s ‘I Am Still’ Film Explores His Struggles With Going Solo

Jungkook’s work ethics have always been admirable, with the youngest member of BTS always trying his best to prove that he belongs in the global K-pop group.

Now that he’s trying his hand at growing a solo career, he still has feelings of inadequacy plaguing him, even though he delivers a flawless performance each time.

In ‘I Am Still,’ Jungkook takes fans into his journey to becoming independent of the group that gained him worldwide fame.

Jungkook Says He Wants To “Prove” Himself With Solo Career

Being a part of a group is sure to take the edge off when navigating the spotlight, and for Jungkook, it helped him learn the ropes while having the support that comes with having six other people on the same journey as you.

But now that he’s on his own, things are a bit more different and he’s starting to doubt his talent and that natural Jungkook charm that fans have grown to love. He feels the extra need to prove himself, and it’s chipping away on his confidence.

“I was worried sick,” he explains about the recording session for ‘Seven’ with producer Andrew Watt. “And to be honest, I wasn’t confident either. As the vocalist of BTS, I was worried that the producer would be disappointed after my recording. I guess I wanted to prove myself.”

When speaking on his motivation to create music, he honestly admitted to doing it with a sense of what fans would and wouldn’t love. For him, his work does not end with creating the music, part of it is fans’ reception.

“Others should approve of it, too. That’s how it should be. That way, I’d feel proud,“ he said during a car ride at the start of work on his project ‘Golden.’ “I’ll see if I did well through the reactions.”

Jungkook Opens Up About Lessons He Learned As A Solo Artist

Even though Jungkook loves the energy of being in BTS, he’s doing his best to find his own way and voice as a solo performer. This has, of course, come with its own challenges.

“I realised a lot of things when I was promoting solo,” he explains. “‘I was doing this role in the team’ or ‘I guess I miss being in a team a lot’, ‘Being part of a team was super fun’. I learned a lot of things by being by myself.”

When it comes to failures on the way, he rises above it by retaining a growth mindset. “If I keep on growing, growing and improving, and experience failure now and then, then I’ll be stronger and more solid.”
