Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) recently scolded Phyllis for having caused multiple problems. One of them involved her having forced Summer into an impossible position, asking that she keep the secret of her faked death from Kyle.

As the end of this summer can be seen, Summer is trying to force Kyle to cut Audra out of Glissade. But she does not know that Claire’s grandfather, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), is Kyle and Audra’s employer.

Audra has no time for Summer and likely sees Claire as a non-factor. Silver’s character has what could prove to be grandiose ideas about her current business interests.

Victor will keep her in place if she’s helpful to him. When Audra is not, he will cut her loose or make Glissade impossible to bear.

Audra was developing feelings for Kyle, but that ended when their intended business plan involving Chancellor-Winters collapsed. This time around, they are unwilling allies.

However, Audra’s high appeal makes it plausible for Kyle to turn to her due to the pressure of the coming custody fight. Claire represents a different consideration, rather than calculation, in his mind.

Like anyone, Claire can’t help who she has feelings for. She did not intend to connect emotions to Kyle. Instead, the bond she formed with his son, Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell), reflected her heart.

Kudos to the writing staff for creating a complex and believable scenario for Erin to play in her second role on Y&R. Viewers recall her first role as a young version of the then-Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway).

Due to Jordan Howard’s (Colleen Zenk) diabolical influence, Claire’s hard life included becoming street-smart. But her new life is starkly different and is linked to Kyle in ways still developing in Genoa City, Wisconsin.
