100 boys will soon embark on a journey of a lifetime to determine whether they’ve got that star quality that will attract millions of fans around the world.

Among them are five British boys Blaise, Dexter, James, Olly, and Reese who will be part of the strict training regime to become the next world famous boy band.

Their dreams are the same, so it depends on who has the courage and zeal to push further than the others.

Luckily, you can keep up with their journey since the program is scheduled to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Through its six episodes, the boys will train with the world’s greatest choreographers, vocal coaches and songwriters. They will learn to perform on their own and as a team.

But K-pop is more than just about the great songs, so they’ll be learning the culture and immersing themselves in the local music, arts and way of life. By way of life, I mean more than just being a huge fan of K-pop.

The British boys seem to already have an in-house fan in the way of Hee Jun Yoon, Director of the Artist Development Center at SM Entertainment, who is known for being behind the rise of K-pop acts like RIIZE, Red Velvet, and SHINee.

The idea of bringing K-pop to the European market is something that thrills Hee Jun Yoon, who has been a long-time fan of European boy bands like Duran Duran. She said: “The idea of a young girl who loved British boy bands, growing up to work in the K-pop industry, and now having the opportunity to produce a British team is truly meaningful.”

The 5 boys have chosen to brand themselves Dear Alice, and only time will tell whether they can go the distance to make it as big as K-pop giants Blackpink, BTS, and even NewJeans. Currently, mixed K-pop group VCHA is growing their fanbase with each release, proving that the formula works.

Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience premiered on free-to-air channel BBC One on August 17. New episodes will air every Saturday at around 5.15pm BST.
