The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Hayley Erin Spills the Tea on Summer & Claire’s Catty Relationship

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) is keeping an eye on would be family assassinator/cousin Claire Grace (Hayley Erin). The rest of the Newmans have forgiven Claire for trying to kill them, but Summer is a tougher sell.

Complicating matters is the fact that Claire is now Summer’s son Harrison Abbott’s (Redding Munsell) nanny. That came about after Harrison was kidnapped by Claire’s deranged aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk).

Claire was raised by Jordan to hate the Newmans, her own family. She was brainwashed to believe that they threw her away when in reality Jordan kidnapped Baby Eve from the hospital. She’s now reunited with the Newmans, but not everyone is buying her reformed act.

Summer’s ex Kyle Newman (Michael Mealor) is smitten with Claire and is sympathetic to her plight as a tarnished soul as he also is a bit of an outsider.

Erin said “Kyle’s such a great character and he is multifaceted like Claire. But as far as Claire is concerned, she’s only ever seen kindness and understanding and been given grace by Kyle.”

Does this mean a romance between Kyle and Claire is on the horizon? Hayley said of her character “While I don’t think her head is there right now there’s definitely the potential.”

And if that were to happen, Summer’s head would do a 360. Summer remains possessive of Kyle, as seen in the Friday, June 28 episode. After seeing Kyle and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) together, suspicious Summer tried to interrogate the other woman but was shut down.

Still, if Kyle and Claire were to develop a relationship, it ironically could be the thing that makes Summer come to appreciate her cousin. Or not. How would Summer respond to both Harrison and Kyle being head over heels about Claire? If history is any indication, not well!
