Days Of Our Lives Comings and Goings: Two Beloved Cast Members OUT, Fans Beg For One Fan Favorite’s Return!

Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal two cast members have left in recent days, although one fan favorite’s exit was more or less expected. Steve Burton left as Harris Michaels on June 24, while Bryan Datillo left as Lucas Horton on June 25^th.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Steve Burton Migrated Back To General Hospital

As viewers of both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital know, there is one actor, Wally Kurth, who is seen on both shows: DOOL as Justin Kiriakis and GH as Ned Quartermaine.

That’s because he has a special contract with the shows which allows him to appear on both in a recurring status.

Steve signed an exclusive contract with General Hospital when he returned as Jason Morgan in March 2024.

Because of the differing taping schedules of the two shows, Steve’s appearances as Harris on DOOL and Jason on GH overlapped for a few months. But now, the timing has caught up so Steve as Harris is gone.

DOOL Spoilers – Tamara Braun Talked About Her Scene Partner And His Exit

Tamara Braun, Ava Vitali on DOOL, also played one of the Carly Spencers on GH and so has worked with Steve before.

Tamara recently sat down with Soap Opera Digest to discuss Steve’s departure and couldn’t help but express her sadness; “Seeing Steve leave was definitely a bittersweet moment for me,” she shared.

“Working alongside him once again and witnessing the growth of Ava and Harris’ relationship was special-It’s a shame he had to leave because it meant the end for our onscreen couple.”

Fans flooded social media with their reactions to Steve’s exit; “I’m going to miss Steve Burton-although I only know him from Days, I absolutely adored his character,” posted a Facebook user. Another fan passionately wrote, “Harris must stay! He brings so much to the show!”

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Fans Expressed Relief Harris Wasn’t Killed Off

Tamara, speaking with Soap Opera Digest, mentioned that Steve’s heart is truly at General Hospital; “Steve needed to go,”she explained. “He’s back at GH where he wants to be, and that’s what matters most to him-life is too short not to follow your heart.”

Even though Steve has left DOOL, fans are hopeful for his return since his character was not killed off, although that’s not likely to happen.  

One fan expressed, “I’m relieved that Steve’s character just left town, leaving the possibility for him to return in the future-you never know what could happen.”

Another fan added, “It’s sad to see him go because he was a highlight, but at least they left the door open for him to come back if he wants.

DOOL Spoilers – Bryan Datillo Has Come And Gone Before

Fans bid farewell not only to Steve, but also to Lucas Horton who had a heart-wrenching goodbye with his mother, Kate Brady (Lauren Koslow)  on June 25.

Although fans are devastated by Bryan’s departure, this isn’t the first time he has left the show-he initially joined in 1993 and stayed until 2001.

Bryan made a comeback the following year until 2010, and then returned once again when the series was rebooted in 2012.

Since then, he has been in and out of the show a couple of different times, keeping fans on their toes.
