Daytime Emmy’s To Celebrate Y&R Melody Thomas Scott & Hubby Edward Scott Soap Accomplishments

The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is set to take place on Friday, June 7, and will be broadcast by CBS. The nominations in all categories were released some weeks ago, and as the countdown starts for the big ceremony, the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award were recently announced.

Daytime Emmy’s: A Power Couple Will Be Honored

The 2023 recipients of the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award were actress Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, All My Children) and talk show host, Maury Povich. This year, actress Melody Scott Thomas (Nikki Newman, Young and the Restless), along with her husband of almost 39 years, Edward Scott (Supervising Producer for the Bold and the Beautiful) will be presented with the prestigious award.

Ms. Scott recently celebrated 45 years of playing Ms. Newman and has been on point with her recent storyline as Nikki struggles to get back on the wagon after being tortured by the evil Jordan (Colleen Zenk).

Meanwhile, her hubby, Edward, has been a key, behind-the-scenes daytime player, including a role as executive producer on the Young and the Restless at one point.

Fun fact, the Scotts met and fell in love while working on the soap together.

Daytime Emmy’s: It’s Been A Long Time Coming

As per NATAS’s President and CEO, Adam Sharp, the organization has “long wanted” to honor the legendary daytime couple. He notes, “With a combined 93 years of contributions to our community, they are true institutions in the world of Daytime television.”

The Scotts released a joint statement about their Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award, saying, “We are honored and humbled to receive this recognition from NATAS.

Throughout our decades-long careers in front of and behind the cameras, we have had the opportunity to work not only with each other, but also with an incredibly talented pool of people who excel in their crafts and are passionate about the art we create in daytime television.

We are grateful to have worked side by side with them and to be included with such esteemed recipients who have made their mark in our industry.”
