General Hospital Spoilers gush Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) thinks she’s doing the right thing. Coming clean with Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) about her own bias toward Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and insisting Anna not hold back on going after Sonny on her account came at the perfect time, of course.
Anna has been sitting on circumstantial evidence of Sonny’s crimes with the toolkit she now needs in Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) to take this guy down.
Laura’s willingness to back Anna’s decision may become a critical turning point in her life though. Laura has compromised her own morals over the years in favor of keeping her friendship with Sonny on a pedestal, and right now, she’s feeling ready to part with that if it means standing up for the truth. But will she feel the same way when she no longer has a friend in high places that she needs to call upon?
Laura’s meeting with Sonny may leave fans feeling somber about the road ahead. Their longtime friendship could come to an untimely end on the heels of her letting Sonny know she can’t forgive him for brutally beating her brother, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), within inches of his life.
Learning that Sonny prompted Dex to finish the job when Dex was in the hospital sealed the deal for her.
Working together, and giving Anna her full support, Laura will see things through on her word to the Police Commish. What will that mean for Sonny?
We never thought we would see the day when Laura turned against Sonny. To be fair, she won’t see things that way in this case. She still loves the side of Sonny she’s always known, but the other side of his lifestyle and personality has finally come home to roost — and she can’t ignore it anymore.
As the Mayor of Port Charles and Cyrus’ sister, she has a responsibility to uphold. But while Laura is clearing her own conscience, Sonny will view her move to align with law enforcement against him as a serious betrayal, and we all know that can’t end well.
Normally, even when Sonny is ticked he won’t lose control and override boundaries he has in place to protect certain people. He’s never turned against his own family.
Some fans are worried that when Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) finally resurfaces and needs help, Sonny could co-opt the situation and leave him suffering — or worse.
Would an unmedicated and reckless Sonny actually do that to his sister’s child? Probably not, but rumor has it Laura is going to need to call on Sonny in the future, and he’s not going to respond in kind after feeling like she hung him out to dry.
Will someone else pay for her mistake of crossing Sonny when she can no longer pull on that string? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
