General Hospital Spoilers reveal Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) is currently reeling with grief, wondering if the latest love of her life — Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) — will ever wake up.
Watching him lying lifeless in a hospital bed, fighting for his life, is only fueling her anger and concern about who did this to him. For whatever reason, Sam’s grief is blinding her to the fact that someone tried to save Dante’s life.
While it doesn’t seem to make sense to Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) or even Assistant District Attorney Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Vaganos) that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) would ever harm Dante — much less that he would shoot him and then try to save his life — Sam can’t see through the tears of sadness in her eyes right now.
Will she be kicking herself when Jason comes home, cleared of all charges, though? How might her son handle his sticky feelings about his dad?
Right now, everyone is racking their brains about Jason’s involvement in the pier shooting. It’s quite obvious that Jason stopped to help Dante — elevating his legs, applying his own sweatshirt as a pressure bandage, and calling 9-1-1 before he disappeared into the night to let the paramedics do their jobs.
It makes no sense that Jason would shoot Dante and then risk getting caught by trying to make sure he stays alive long enough to get emergency medical treatment.
Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) isn’t questioning why his mother can’t see that right now — and why would he? He was in a similar position recently until he had the chance to see and speak to his father.
But when the police determine Jason wasn’t responsible for the shooting, it’s going to bring about different feelings for Danny, and he’ll then question why his mother is standing her ground in anger with Jason.
Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) was stunned to find out how angry Sam was with Jason. She instinctively knew he would never hurt anyone they loved, and yet Sam seemed to have forgotten who Jason had been to all of them over the years.
She can’t see through the grief she’s experiencing as she worries she may never see Dante open his eyes. While everyone is being tolerant of that right now, it’s not going to be that simple when Jason is declared innocent and she remains furious with him.
Danny has come to love and appreciate Dante being in his life and taking on the role of his father figure, and there won’t be any animosity coming from Jason about that.
But knowing that his father is alive is going to give Danny a new perspective on how he feels about his new family.
He may long for his parents to get back together — or at the very least, want more regular contact with his Dad that his Mom doesn’t permit.
As he continues to push for more time with his dad, and Sam continues to put distance between them out of fear for her son’s safety, it may drive a wedge between mother and son that draws Danny closer to his dad and the danger that surrounds him.
In the meantime, Sam could be so consumed with Dante’s condition that she remains oblivious to Danny’s demeanor and the new connection he’s formed with his fugitive father.
