Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers note that the Horton house being burned to the ground has had the entire family, and others in Salem, reeling.
It’s the end of an era, but thankfully all those Horton family ornaments somehow were saved, as well as Tom Horton’s (Macdonald Carey) armchair.
The bad news is the house is gone; the good news is that the family and their community banded together, and the Hortons are stronger than ever.
Actress Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) recently re-accounts a time when someone on the show wanted to get rid of the Horton house and clan, for good.
Susan Seaforth Hayes recently had an interview with Michael Fairman where she talks about the Horton house fire storyline, revealing that “many years ago”, the idea was presented to get rid of the home for good. The actress notes that “another regime” planned on “trashing” the Horton home set as “nobody” cared about the family anymore.
She states that it was stopped by one person, which she was “eternally grateful” for. She never mentioned which regime wanted to do this, or who stopped it; however, fans are likely just as happy as Susan that this never happened.
Ms. Seaforth Hayes notes in her current interview with Michael Fairman that this time around when the powers that be presented the Horton family house fire, she thought, “Oh my goodness! I guess I’ll be meeting people for a cup of coffee at Horton Square. No home, no roots, no reason to be called in.”
The actress also believed it was the “end” of Julie and Doug, too. Still, when the writers structured a storyline around it, which came during the writer’s strike, she was curious about how it would all turn out.
Susan notes that she enjoyed the aftermath of the arc, because of how the history of the family and its house was presented.
