Claire’s nightmares seem to be fueled by worthlessness-which is of course, fueled by guilt; she feels such a mixture of worthlessness and guilt she sent her mother away.

Claire can’t understand a mother’s and a father’s all forgiving love because she’s never had it before, she’s only been raised to feel hate and revenge.

Claire has a therapist but she’s not getting very far with the damaged young woman, who had been taught a false narrative about her family of origin since birth.

Cole and Victoria have discussed this problem extensively, how to overcome Claire’s mistrust and fears. But her nightmares of being punished by Jordan for not obeying have been compounded by this latest kidnapping scheme.

She finally agrees to talk to her parents together, and they try to get her to open up about her nightmares and her fears. Cole reminds Claire that she was groomed, she didn’t have any choice but believe the falsehoods Jordan was teaching her-it wasn’t Claire’s fault.

The betrayal by Aunt Jordan is weighing hard on the young woman, Cole reminds her she saved their lives; if there wasn’t good in her she wouldn’t have.

Cole and Victoria make sure Claire understands that they won’t abandon her on the long road that’s ahead, telling her the circumstances of her birth and their love for her.

Victoria tells how she had to be delivered prematurely because Victoria’s appendix had burst, there was no choice; both of them could have died.

Cole remembers how fragile and tiny she was as baby Eve in the incubator in the neo-natal unit, and they couldn’t do as much for preemies back then.

They were both so afraid of losing their preemie baby Eve, and they were devastated when a doctor-probably in cahoots with Jordan-told them the bad news.

Finding her again alive was a miracle, the only true thing Jordan had said, and they tell her she’s still a miracle-their miracle.
