The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease ‘Chilly’ has become too chilly-it’s almost turned platonic. Is it time to give up on the romance of Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers: A Codependent Relationship, Not A Real Romance?

Considering Billy saved Chelsea from suicide, that led to a special bond that sort of grew into a romantic relationship, but even at it best, there wasn’t a lot of romance. Perhaps it’s more of a codependent relationship with Billy having a need to feel like a hero and help fix Chelsea, and Chelsea desperately needing a fixer. There’s just never seemed to be a lot of heat or passion happening between them, although obviously there once was even for a night-creating Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind).

Heroes and those they rescue frequently become bonded deeply, but it can set up a form of emotional dependence. That means if Billy’s not around for Chelsea, she could fall apart again like she did after Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) died-it seems like it’s a pattern.

Y & R Spoilers: Billy Abbott Seems Drawn To Damsels In Distress As Well

Billy seems drawn to damsels in distress as well, and it seems he’s always looking for a sense of purpose-saving someone might give him that. Billy and Chelsea have a controversial history-getting back to Johnny, he was conceived when Chelsea drugged Billy into having sex with her, and a lot of longtime fans can’t handle that. They don’t feel that someone with that history would be a healthy couple, and indeed, they likely are not, and besides, they can’t forgive and forget. They don’t seem to have a lot of chemistry either, as was discussed earlier-they’re just not sexy in their relationship and when they’re acting normal they’re boring!

The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Pull The Plug, There’s No Electricity

The show might as well pull the plug on Billy and Chelsea as a couple since there’s no electricity there anyway. Who can be excited about a couple who has about as much passion as a dried up prune, although they have a close friendship? There’s no conflict, no fighting, so people can’t even take sides between the two of them and neither seems drawn to anyone else opposite sex.

It would be a much better story for Billy if he tried to intervene and call Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) Daniel Romalotti (Daniel Graziadei) might be straying. As for Chelsea, why doesn’t she give it another try with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)?
