The Bold and The Beautiful spoilers and updates tease Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) will regret his decision when Eric Forrester (John McCook) gets worse.
Will Ridge pull the plug on his father’s life support, knowing that’s what Eric would want but then wish he hadn’t followed through?
In a business deal or a fashion showdown, the majority often rules, but not when it comes to Eric and his wishes for no life-sustaining measures.
None of the family wants or is able to come to the point of letting Eric go, and it’s left to Ridge to decide. Ridge stands with Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) in the hospital, seeing Eric on life support and says that’s not right-he doesn’t want that.
Ridge remembers in his mind his father’s voice, saying if things go south, he’s to pull the plug-Eric didn’t want life support and he relays that information to the family. Ridge is the one who has Eric’s medical power of attorney, and legally, he’s to call the shots.
Ridge tries to convince his family that the right thing is to honor Eric’s wishes and let him die, even though it causes them an extreme amount of grief and heartbreak.
He is met with extreme resistance; Donna Logan (Jennifer Garies) Bridget Forrester, (Ashley Jones) Steffy Forrester-Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Brooke are against it, saying they must do what they can.
Ridge fights against them, trying to convince them that isn’t what Eric wants, and the plug has to be pulled so he dies on his own terms.
The others are all weeping and wailing and it does start to get to Ridge-but Eric’s words course through his mind; no extraordinary means to keep him alive. It’s definitely a case of Ridge having to play God at his father’s request.
It becomes even more difficult when John “Finn” Finnegan, (Tanner Novlan) who missed the gala because he was studying Eric’s case arrives.
He has discovered there’s a treatment that could be a game changer for Eric, although it’s not without risks, and Ridge balks at that.
He doesn’t want his father to be an experiment and the treatment is experimental; Finn and the rest argue it’s worth the risk-he’s going to die anyway if it fails.
Then, likely as the rest of the family leaves Ridge alone with Eric after allowing Donna to say her goodbyes, Ridge makes a fateful decision and regrets it immediately. As Eric’s condition worsens, Finn and Bridget race back in to save his life-did Ridge pull the plug?
