Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Is Chad Subconsciously Trying To Protect Abigail As He’s Overprotecting Stephanie?

Days of Our Lives spoilers and rumors tease Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) could subconsciously be trying to protect his late wife Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) by overprotecting Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein).

Subconsciously, Chad has likely never forgiven himself for leaving the DiMera mansion the night she was murdered to take the kids to a movie; not realizing they all could have died.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Blaming Himself, Never Having Closure

Chad belies what’s going on inside himself subconsciously by his never being ready to move on from Abigail and fully commit to Stephanie; if he hadn’t left maybe she’d be alive. What he doesn’t realize is Clyde Weston (James Read) may have killed the whole family, even though that would have been difficult using a knife.

He could have planned the killing to keep his secrets from coming out, and brought a gun instead; but didn’t, because he had to have a patsy. After the fact, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) was convenient, living in the secret room-and bringing food and eating there, having used the knife. Chad was so full of rage and grief he made a “hit list” of suspects, and in the end, forced Clyde to Abigail’s grave with a gun intending to kill him.

DOOL Spoilers: From Rewind To Fast Forward

Chad has never told the depth of his rage and grief to Stephanie, likely not wanting her to think he was a psycho- truth be told, he was insane with grief. Had he not been stopped from killing Clyde by EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) who fired the shot, but didn’t kill Clyde, Chad would have-although EJ would have preferred he died.

Either of them could have claimed self-defense, with Shawn and Belle Brady (Brandon Beemer, Martha Madison) showing up after the fact; but unfortunately, Clyde lived but that didn’t cure Chad’s rage. All this time Chad has never healed from or had closure from Abigail’s murder, and he was the one who found her body.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Chad DiMera Can’t Forget And Can’t Forgive Himself

No one would be surprised that Chad can’t forget, and no one would expect him to—but neither can he forgive himself for not protecting Abigail. He doesn’t get that even if he had stayed home with the kids, it may not have prevented her murder. Belle and EJ were both there that night and failed to see what happened, never heard her scream-the mansion is just too big, and EJ removed the previous security system.

EJ did everything over when he moved into the mansion and tore all the security system out previously installed by Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). He’s regretted it since, but if it had been there, maybe Abigail’s murder could have been prevented-but as it was, it couldn’t have been; not even by Chad.
