Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Gwen Returns, Theresa Stays – Emily O’Brien Pulls Double-Duty In Salem?

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers note that the soap loves having actors return to the show, only to cast them in completely different characters than they once played.

The original actor to do this was Josh Taylor, who once played Chris Kositchek in the late ‘70s, only to come back to Salem as Roman Brady, decades later.

The daytime drama has also done this with Robert Scott Wilson, who plays Alex Kiriakis, and once played Ben Weston, as well as Blake Berris who infamously played Nick Fallon and who now plays Everett Lynch.

Actress Emily O’Brien stunned fans this past fall when Gwen Rizczech hopped out of Salem, and she was recast to play Theresa Donovan, a role originated by Jenn Lilley.

But is there more in store for fans when it comes to Gwen and Theresa?

DOOL Spoilers: Could Theresa Stay & Gwen Return?

Days spoilers suggest that Theresa is locked in a very interesting storyline right now. She’s got a hot romance with Alex but also has lingering feelings for Brady Black (Eric Martsolf).

While soap opera storylines can take months (sometimes years) to come to an end, they can also be cut quite short. From the looks of it, it seems as if Theresa is set to stay for the time being.

With that being said, could Gwen return? The actress would have to pull double duty, but it would be an interesting thing to watch Emily O’Brien do.

She sort of did this recently when Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) called Gwen up to buy the Spectator off her. Still, with Chad suddenly single, and his struggle to get over Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) death, plus their history together, wouldn’t it be interesting to see Gwen return?

Could she and Chad get another chance at romance? This would be intriguing, as Chad surely would have conflicted feelings about falling in love with his wife’s hated half-sister. Especially if Gwen’s “changed”.

Days Spoilers: Something That’s Never Been Done

DOOL has had actors pull double duty but only when it comes to look-a-likes or twins. Stacy Haiduk is a fine example of this, playing both Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks; however, the show has never had an actor/actress play two different characters who don’t look the same, at the same time.

As the soap loves keeping fans on their toes, and does things a bit differently, perhaps they decide to have Gwen and Theresa both within storylines, moving forward.
