The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) had enough. She fled town with her children in haste, but time passed, and she was ready to fight for her family again.
Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) ran Steffy out of town without making a threat. Instead, Sheila’s reputation and apparent influence over her son, John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan), overwhelmed Steffy’s senses.
Finn was disappointed in himself, for having allowed Sheila to believe she had a chance to develop a traditional mother-son relationship with him.
But he was enraged that his birth mother, who had caused him trouble since first announcing her existence on his wedding day, was the factor that caused his family to disappear.
Finn admitted to Sheila, in a scene that is still not known by the main players, that something was always missing in his life. Since the time he was a child Finn longed for his birth mother and wanted to meet her.
The embrace Finn offered in response to Sheila’s hug at the visitor’s room in the prison where she was being held, electrified Brown’s character. She later told Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) affirming her maternal belief that Finn needed her.
The very next day Finn again hugged Sheila after she was inexplicably cleared of a murder she admitted to committing. Later in the plot, Sheila pulled Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras Mckinlay) from the ocean which earned Finn’s thanks and his use of the word mom.
Sheila’s problem is that she only sees what she wants. She justifies all her behavior or excuses it, as she did when shooting Finn, and only uses the word accident to exonerate her reckless actions.
Finn does have a genetic connection to Sheila. But the compassion he felt or still feels for her is steeped in his vocation. He is a healer who believes everyone deserves care, no matter their background.
Deacon has unsuccessfully attempted to dissuade Sheila from believing she and Finn can develop a normal connection. Kanan’s character also believes her desire to change, and his presence serve as deterrents to further heinous acts occurring.
Weakness was projected when Steffy moved to Europe. Sheila was relieved that the woman she rightly sees as the greatest influence over Finn was out of the picture.
Finn and Steffy will not be able to prevent Sheila from being Sheila. But their efforts, along with all who back them, and Deacon’s good intentions might provide enough cover to survive the next attack from the greatest villain in the storied history of B&B.
