General Hospital spoilers squeal Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has been looped into the chaos Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is enduring, and she’s beside herself with grief and worry that her granddaughter may be lost forever.
Somehow, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) managed to get his greedy claws into her, and she is clearly still suffering from being under his influence long after his death.
Without any insight into how that came to be, Laura worries that her granddaughter may be beyond repair. Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) won’t be very encouraging when he agrees with her and affirms Valentin’s concerns that Charlotte is indeed in serious trouble.
But when Laura learns Charlotte has been spending considerable time with Jake Spencer (Hudson West), she won’t be able to stop from worrying that he may come under her quasi-Vicotr influence, too.
Laura has been out of town for quite a while. In that time, her young granddaughter has developed something of a crush on Jake, and he secretly returns her feelings.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) had concerns about Charlotte long ago when she was picking on her youngest son, Aiden Spencer (Enzo De Angelis), but that is water under the bridge as far as Elizabeth is concerned. That is until Laura brings new concerns to her attention.
Laura and Elizabeth have already found time to catch up in the whirlwind of Laura’s return to town. But we have a feeling they’re going to be seeing more of each other.
First and foremost, Laura knows Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is alive, and he seeks to find a way to convince him to come home and be a father to his sons.
If Elizabeth is the only solid evidence that the PCPD even has to hold against Nikolas regarding his holding Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) captive, then perhaps Laura can encourage Elizabeth to make peace with Nikolas and maybe not testify against him if it came to that.
That’s a big ask, but Laura will also have concerns about Jake’s friendship with Charlotte to discuss with Elizabeth. How can she do that without raising red flags and letting Charlotte know she knows anything is wrong?
The truth is, Charlotte and Jake are both old enough that even if their parents don’t agree with them spending time together, they’re going to find a way to.
Their parents can’t control what they do and who they talk to at school either, though Valentin could always ship Charlotte back to boarding school.
But it’s not likely given that he believes all of the problems she is facing started with her being out of his sight and approachable by Victor.
Elizabeth may try to warn Jake not to get too close to Charlotte right now, but her brooding and angst are probably only going to reel in him more.
It appears this apple didn’t fall far from his father’s tree. Will Jake seek to save Charlotte from herself? Stay tuned for more General Hospital news and spoilers to find out.
