Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Theresa Recast Has Fans Buzzing, Emily O’Brien Has Risen To The Occasion

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers hint that fans need to brace themselves for a huge plot twist in the storyline involving Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien).

She seems up to no good, and some audiences believe that she falsified Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) letters to make it appear as if Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) was his long-lost son.

Still, bigger than the buzz around this arc is the actress switch-up that occurred within the Theresa character. One minute, fans were seeing actress Emily O’Brien play Gwen Rizczech, the next she was Theresa Donovan.

Days Spoilers: Emily O’Brien Has Nailed The Theresa Donovan Role

While most fans have been anticipating this for a while now, Gwen heading to board her flight, and having Theresa get off her flight seconds later, was still a tad shocking. Perhaps it’s because while we knew the recast was coming, we weren’t sure how it was going to play out.

Given the circumstances, the show presented this Theresa recast in the best way possible. There was no need for a boring voice-over to tell viewers that Ms. O’Brien was recast in the role, it was told by pure storytelling; in a cheeky, humorous, and fun way, no less.

Now, while the wig is a tad cheesy, overall, Emily has nailed the role of Theresa to the point where in mere days, it’s become her own.

Sure, actress Jenn Lilley did a phenomenal job in the part for years; however, given the short amount of time O’Brien has played Theresa, she’s done an incredible job.

DOOL Spoilers: What Are Fans So Upset About?

There are fans who have wholeheartedly welcomed Emily into the role of Theresa. Then again, there are trolls on social media who have an issue with the recast.

If Jenn couldn’t play the part and only wanted a short-term stint, then why not give it to an actress who has proved her work ethic on the show already?

DOOL has had a mass character exodus as of late. From Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) to Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer), Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), with promises of Belle Brady (Martha Madison) and Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) to leave the show soon, it seems as if the soap may have released some roles for budget cuts.

Clearly, Gwen was on the chopping block, as she left Salem. Possibly the idea of Emily recast in the part was a way to keep her on the show a little while longer. It’s show biz, it’s life in daytime drama; characters get recast all the time.

The show likely made a judgment call, and as Emily could fit the Theresa profile, they kept talent in the Days fold, rather than going with an entirely different actress, which was the best call to make.
