It felt like Hope got tired of Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) downward view of her. He did not treat her with deception but rather saw her as naive and incapable of making her own decisions.

Hope eventually had enough of Liam’s demands where Thomas was concerned. That happened after Atkinson’s character lifted Hope for the Future out of peril and Liam refused to recognize the importance of that moment.

Marital trust was broken by Liam on so many occasions that Hope could not accept his intransigence. Thomas was no longer the villain Liam wanted him to be.

Thomas is patient because he knows Hope cares about him. Her choice to quickly accept Liam’s divorce demand was made easier because Thomas became a realistic alternative.

What happened in Italy, which was witnessed by Liam, was monumental. It not only represented Clifton’s character crossing the Rubicon but also became Hope’s metamorphosis.

Noelle’s character is living in a post-Liam world where Thomas is her likely destiny, with that noun being a play off her mother’s, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), often-used reference to what she and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) represent to each other.

The irony is not lost on fans who see that pairing’s children may also be able to use that word for themselves on B&B.
