Viewers know that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) created a plan, that Jack liked. It involved Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) pretending to have a falling out with Jack that purposefully happened in front of Ashley and Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John).

Ashley recently told Abby Newman Abbott (Melissa Ordway) that she was tired of the fighting and was not going to battle Jack any longer.

But the audience knew she also approached Billy about serving as a Trojan Horse inside Jabot while not knowing that he agreed to conspire against her and Tucker.

Billy surprised Jack when he agreed to become his co-CEO in the recent past. Bergman’s character also believes his brother’s backing and the support of the Board keep power secured.

The bottom line in any business involves how much money is being made and future projects of financial health. But Jack and Ashley have not been talking about Jabot’s profitability in recent months while they have engaged in personal attacks.

Ashley’s belief, which has been enthusiastically supported by Tucker, is that Diane’s ascension to the Chief Talent Officer position telegraphs trouble ahead.

But until the numbers show that how can Ashley convince the Board that Diane or Jack needs to go?

Billy Abbott Tried To Thread The Needle

Billy does not want his family to fight. He was suspicious of Diane when she reemerged in Jack’s life but has seen her better side and appears to be convinced that she has changed.

Thompson’s character made no bones about telling Tucker he still does not trust him. That alone would make it appear Billy will not do anything that gives the Ashley-Tucker combination a win over Jack and Diane.

However, Billy’s maturity and his genuine commitment to all things Abbott imply that he will make a push for family unity, with Jack and Ashley both being able to claim victory on Y&R.
