General Hospital (GH) spoilers claim it’s hard to ignore the feeling that something just wasn’t quite right in Sonny Corinthos’ proposal to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Despite the sentiment behind it when he noted he had been carrying that rock around for weeks, there was an undercurrent of disingenuity that was hard not to notice. Perhaps it was the lingering scars of Nina’s deception, but it almost seemed like Sonny was proposing as a means of lifting Nina’s spirits and trying to prove to her that he would be her family — even if it was only ever just the two of them. What is that? Pity? Condolences? With so much history and emotional baggage between these two, it’s hard to fathom that any kind of happy ending could erase the mess they’ve made getting there. However, it seems that Nina’s tactics may have worked a little too well as Sonny shocked everyone with a sudden marriage proposal. Was Sonny just out of ways to make it clear to Nina that he isn’t going to abandon her because she makes his life so hard?

General Hospital Updates – Nina Was Never Good And Neither Was This Relationship

Can you hear the fans clapping as we careen toward the end of Sonny and Nina’s dalliance? As much as we root for love stories to succeed, the harsh reality is that sometimes, love just doesn’t align. Hey, who doesn’t relish a good love story? The problem is…this one was never good. It was built on lies from the very start, and Sonny and Nina thought they could plater over it with their allegedly undeniable chemistry. Wrong again. Nina was lying when she first ran into “Mike” in Nixon Falls, and she’s going to be lying to him until the bitter end when we know she’ll get to meet the real deal — Sonny when he’s been wronged.

Who Is This Man?

Nina thinks she knows Sonny so well, but did she understand him when he was off his bipolar meds? No, she had to run to Carly to fix that. In fact, she’s needed Carly’s help in many instances with her own family, because like it or not, Carly is the matriarch and Nina never will be. Marrying Sonny won’t change that. His proposal may have been a bridge to helping Nina feel more secure and believe that he really loves her, but that’s not going to help her since she knows their relationship is a ticking time bomb.

As their wedding date nears and the truth comes out, Sonny is going to come out as his old self again — an angry, fuming, vengeful man who will stop at nothing to seek justice on his terms. What does that mean for Nina? Well, you can bet she’s not getting that wedding, but if we know Sonny, he won’t stop there. Sonny isn’t going to rest until he makes sure Nina loses everything that ever mattered to her — which is a short list these days given how much she’s lost on her own.
