Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) should have never allowed herself to get so carried away. Devoted viewers know that started long before the current drama played out.

Diane was working at Jabot, and Phyllis wanted to be in the fray. So, she foolishly sold the Grand Phoenix Hotel, which was a terrific business venture.

While Phyllis got a good deal from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), she made the wrong decision for the wrong reason. Diane became Phyllis’ takedown target at Jabot, and despite Summer having given her mom a plum job at Marchetti Home, she blew it and was fired.

Kyle is rightfully upset by all that has happened in recent weeks. Seeing his mother locked in prison was jarring. That came after seemingly hard evidence linked Diane to Phyllis’ drug poisoning.

But Phyllis and Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) set Diane up. They made it look like Phyllis was afraid of Diane, that Walters’ character was trying to choke her out in a Genoa City Athletic Club suite, and that Diane obtained a substance to debilitate Phyllis. That led to the strange ambulance ride and deadly crash.

There is no way for Kyle to balance the defense of his mother while also trying to protect Summer. But he is just one of the people Phyllis has compromised.

Summer Newman Abbott Blocks Brother?

Summer does not want her brother to contact the police. If Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) does so, Phyllis is likely to be charged with multiple crimes.

But Phyllis is hiding, telling Summer she needs time to develop a plan to address this mess. While Phyllis said she can never return to GC, the audience knows that has to happen and that the resolution of this charged storyline is coming on Y&R.
