Martha had decided to confront Chanel about her relationship with Nathan. Chanel and Martha got into a fight which resulted in Martha’s accidental death. Chanel needed to get her mother Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) to help her to get out of legal trouble over Martha’s death. Sloan had found out about Chanel and Martha’s altercation. Sloan blames Chanel and Paulina for destroying her family’s lives. Sloan has wanted to bring legal action against Chanel and Paulina but her efforts have failed. Chanel has tried to convince Sloan to forget her need for revenge against her and Paulina but Sloan is determined to find a way to make Chanel and Paulina pay.

Chanel had found out that Sloan had planned on keeping her and Paulina from being able to access their financial assets. Chanel had needed to hire a new baker to work with her at her bakery Sweet Bits. Chanel had decided to hire Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) because she believed that Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) would be able to help her and Paulina to get access to their money. Chanel and Paulina found out that Belle was able to help them with their financial troubles. Chanel had thought that Sloan would stop trying to sabotage her and Paulina.

Chanel was shocked to find out that Paulina’s office had been ransacked. Paulina and Chanel believe that Sloan is responsible for the break-in. Chanel has decided to take matters into her own hands. Chanel has gone to Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) to get him to run a story about Sloan in the local newspaper The Spectator. Chanel knows that Leo is the gossip columnist Lady Whistleblower. Chanel hopes that Leo will want to help her take down Sloan.
