Thomas intended to help his son deal with the grief he was feeling. As the plot advanced, Thomas lost control of his feelings and used Douglas as an emotional carrot to gain regular access to Hope.

Liam has had Thomas’ number of years. Clifton’s character never trusted the sneak, even when Thomas settled himself to a certain degree.

Atkinson’s character appeared to be stable or was after the brain injury storyline played out. But Thomas’ conciliatory words and redemptive actions were wiped away when he framed Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang).

Liam was uncertain if he and Hope could handle Douglas’ addition to their family. But he quickly came to care for Samiri’s character. Today, Liam is the protector of his family, which includes Douglas.

Hope should be awarded full custody if evidence is offered to an honest judge. Thomas deserves access to his child. But a decision that includes supervised visitation would be fair.

However, as fans recently saw with the Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) decision, dirty tricks can subvert the legal system. Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) compromised a judge and thought nothing of it.

Thomas lost his job and partially rebuilt his reputation. His parents and sister are furious with him. Devoted fans can see a potential scenario where Thomas refuses to lose Douglas and rigs the system in his favor on B&B.
