General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) hasn’t been a fan of Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) since day one. He entered her daughter’s life as a liar and has continued to disappoint Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and leave her in the lurch to pick up the pieces of the mess he’s left behind. Portia doesn’t understand why Trina would give Spencer another chance, and her irritation with him is going to be magnified when he attempts to take custody of his soon-to-be half-sibling from his own father, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). But is this really about Spencer and his Cassadine drama grating on Portia’s nerves, or does the fight between alleged fathers make her feel most unsettled as she watches how Trina responds to it?
When Spencer formally challenges his father and sues for custody of Nik’s child with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), Portia will be beside herself. She is already vehemently against Trina opening her arms to Spencer and giving him another chance — one in which Portia is certain he will let Trina down while taking her down with him. When she hears that Spencer is now trying to play father to Nikolas’ child, she will denounce the young man once again to Trina, further pushing her daughter into the young heir’s arms.
As Trina continues to support Spencer, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) will try to continue supporting Portia, but she’ll make it hard when she won’t accept reason or back down as he warns her once again that she doesn’t have any control over who Trina is friends with. Portia won’t understand why Spencer wants to be a father to a child born to his ex-girlfriend whom he hates. Furthermore, she will see right through his concerns about the baby’s wellbeing and insist this is all about what’s best for Spencer. When Portia asks Trina why she doesn’t believe Nikolas deserves to be a father to his own child, she will hand her the very grown-up response of saying that’s for a judge to decide. She’s not wrong, but Portia certainly is — and more than Trina knows.
With Portia’s wedding to Curtis right around the corner, it’s a bad time for this pot to be calling any kettle black. Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) just might step in at the perfect time to blow Portia’s argument to smithereens, but Portia could out herself as her secret becomes harder to stomach as she tries to argue the opposite in Spencer’s case Spencer is making an honest attempt to spare the child of a bad parent by attempting to be a better one.
Portia never did that. She may not have given Trina a horrible father, but she very well could have robbed her of the one she was naturally entitled to. The irony won’t be lost on Trina when the truth comes out and she realizes the same mother who advocated for Nikolas having a natural right to raise his child was the woman who made sure Curtis didn’t have that right — and he’s supposed to be the love of her life!
