The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) has driven over the cliff, which is a direct reference to a classic soapy cliffhanger. In Genoa City, Wisconsin terms, Ashland has been provoked to the point where he is seeking intense revenge.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was disturbed when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), a most unlikely confidant, told her that he was concerned about Ashland’s state of mind. Adam told Victoria and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) that Ashland had destroyed his suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club.

But Adam’s tell about Ashland wanting personal revenge, rather than throwing in with Grossman’s character to target Newman Enterprises, chilled Victoria. Teasers show Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), who became GC’s lead detective following Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) death, receiving a call about an accident, which implies it is connected to the developing soapy storm.

Ashland and Victoria were a fated pairing. Their love for each other also included a desire for business power.

They sought a shared destiny that included them running a combined Newman-Locke. Victoria thought she achieved a perfect power match because her father, the great Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), wholeheartedly approved of it. The Moustache even endorsed her marriage to Ashland.

While Victor doubted Ashland’s truthfulness in various matters, Braeden’s character firmly believed that the Lockeness Monster loved Victoria. While she eventually turned the tables on his cancer secret ruse but is not facing his wrath.

The Young And The Restless Updates – Victor Newman Underestimates Rival

Ashland bested Victor, Adam, and Victoria. That is no small feat.

Victor’s pride allows him to believe that all opponents can be countered and defeated. All he needs to do is craft a plan, exact it through helpers, like Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), and watch his enemy slink off.

But Ashland has proven to be an atypical rival. And, as Adam has verified, Ashland was stripped of his dignity and is out for blood, Newman’s blood.

Victoria is most precious to Victor. Adam thought Ashland would be up for going after Newman Enterprises as part of a business payback plan.

No. Bobby DeFranco (his real name before stealing his best friend’s identity) wants personal revenge.

Imagine a plot where Ashland fakes his own murder using Stannis (no last name known for the character Bill Sebastian portrayed) to pull that off. Why else introduce that side character in early July if not to use him later in one of the climaxes in this summer thriller on Y&R?
