The Young And The Restless (Y&R) Spoilers: Why Couldn’t The Soap Give Phack A Chance?

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal Jack Abbott is heartbroken after realizing that Phyllis Summers can’t change. Or at least he feels she can’t change. But he didn’t really give her a chance and the soap didn’t really give this new-old pairing a chance.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Why All The Build Up?

For months and months, Y&R spent time trying to build up a reunion for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). They had Jack confess that he dated Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) cause she reminded him of Phyllis. He also confessed he was still madly in love with her and even told Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) while Nick and Phyllis were still together.

Then, Nick and Phyllis called it quits again, but Phyllis still stuck Jack firmly in the friend zone and we watched that friendship grow knowing it would become more and it did. Through the growth of this friendship, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) also returned from the dead and returned to town, complicating things.

Clearly, Phyllis’ jealousy over Jack’s relationship with Diane all those years ago never really changed, so Phyllis reverted to form, let Diane unnerve her, and slept with Jack to make sure she could keep him.

Then, Jack had to overhear that confrontation between Diane and Phyllis in which Phyllis admitted she slept with Jack before she meant to in order to stake a claim on her territory. Jack couldn’t believe his ears, then told Phyllis he couldn’t go through this again with her as he had so many times, and broken things off. All in under a week since they were officially back together. Way to give a couple a chance, Y&R.

Now, Phyllis is gone to clear her head and visit with her son, Daniel Romalotti (last played by Michael Graziadei). And Jack is all alone again, but Diane doesn’t seem to mind. And, the last few months of the Jack and Phyllis build-up now make zero sense if fans weren’t able to enjoy a couple who should be end game for more than just a few days. It’s a letdown for Jack and Phyllis and also a letdown for us. Hopefully, this Jack and Phyllis break doesn’t last long.
