Coronation Street spoilers and updates tease that an unfortunate turn of events, Coronation Street confirmed that Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) will break up next week after the former admits that he’s still in love with Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu).
Viewers may recall that Tyrone and Alina have developed feelings for each other after the latter moved in with Tyrone and his family. He eventually came clean to Fiz that he’s falling for Alina but Tyrone’s fiancé still decided to give him another chance.
Next week, Fiz will give Tyrone a final warning and forces him to tell Alina to leave Weatherfield for the sake of their family. It would seem as though Tyrone and Fiz’s relationship is heading in a better direction as they prepare for their caravan holiday with the kids.
While Fiz is busy packing for their trip, Tyrone heads over to Alina and tells her that asking her to leave was all Fiz’s idea. Fiz is furious after finding out from Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) that Tyrone’s been talking to Alina again.
Later on, Immigration Enforcement officers raid Alina’s flat over a report that she’s evading tax. Tyrone grows suspicious and assumes that it was Fiz who reported Alina to the authorities. He confronts Fiz, who denies the allegations and is left in shock that Tyrone would think she can do such a thing. Fiz asks Tyrone again about his true feelings for Alina and he admits that he still loves her, which results in their split.
Tyrone leaves their home and moves in with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) who believes he made the right decision to leave Fiz. Meanwhile, Fiz will have a serious chat with her brother Chesney Brown (Sam Aston). She shares that her relationship with Tyrone has ended long before Alina came into the picture.
Actor Alan Halsall revealed that he was “shocked” with Fiz and Tyrone’s storyline. He had nothing but good things to say about his onscreen partner, Jennie McAlpine. They’ve known each other for two decades and he’s absolutely enjoyed every day he worked with her.
He described Fiz and Tyrone’s current predicament as a “big story” that he loves that his character is a part of. He noted that Tyrone always got the support of viewers but that’s not the case this time around. He said that “Tyrone’s selfish choices” will hurt his family.
“We will see the devastation towards Fiz but also the children and I think people relate heavily to that,” the actor said.
“I don’t think he’ll get away with it this time, he will definitely be portrayed as the bad lad, and rightly so. These feelings have come upon him without meaning, but he’s put himself in that position,” he continued.
Halsall added that it’ll be difficult for the pair to mend their relationship after this storyline. But, whether it’s the end for Fiz and Tyrone still remains to be seen.
