Disneyland Breaking News: Reopening On April 30!

Finally, something fun is about to happen amidst the stress of the ongoing pandemic and the news of the vaccine that’s been making rounds lately. Disneyland resort is set to bring magic back into people’s lives starting April 30 after spending more than a year in complete lockdown.

Conditional Reopening

Disney Parks announced the news across their social media pages, writing, “Just announced! Magic is finally returning to the @Disneyland Resort theme parks! Disneyland Park & Disney California Adventure park are planning to officially reopen to the public on April 30, with limited capacity.”

Soon there’ll be colors and balloons, music and fun again, and while it may not be easy to shade the grim touch of the pandemic, it’s the first step, and considering the cancellation of many of the year’s music and culture festivals, it’d certainly give people, kids especially, something joyous to look forward to.

Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Chapek made the announcement this Wednesday on CNBC, “We’ve seen the enthusiasm, the craving for people to return to our parks around the world.”

The plan is to open its hotels in phases, with Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa set to reopen on April 29, Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Grand Californian on May 2, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel are set to open at a later, currently unknown, date.

The first theme park guests that will have the honor of visiting it after a year of closure will be cast members and members of the local community.

But we’re not completely out of the pandemic era yet, so the opening, as desirable as that might be, comes with a few conditions.

Not all parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences, and other offerings will be made available, and others may be modified. There will, as yet, be limited capacity as to the visitors and number of people present in the park at any particular time. It can also be subject to closure and not all park admissions and offerings are guaranteed.

Returning To Work

The President of the Disneyland Resort, Ken Potrock, shared their plans to reopen the park, “The day all of us have long been waiting for is almost here. We’re excited to have more than 10,000 cast members returning to work as we get ready to welcome our guests back to this happy place.”

But getting 10,000 people to return to work will not be easy, and to help generate some revenue in order to rehire employees that were let go during the closures, Disney California Adventure Park, Universal Studios, and Knott’s Berry Farm had already announced plans to reopen their parks for food and shopping events.

The biggest challenge, according to theme park officials, is rehiring and training thousands of workers to reopen the parks and enforce the new safety guidelines, such as the requirements that visitors wear masks when they’re not eating or drinking, and the need to maintain social distance in queues.

While people are excited about hearing the grand news, especially since vaccines are currently rolling out, there are some that aren’t ready to get into the fun of the theme parks like Disneyland if masks are a necessity.
