Abigail Spencer began her career playing Rebecca Tyree on the ABC daytime television drama All My Children. The series All My Children was the first new network daytime drama to debut in the 1970s, drawing a lot of viewers.
Abigail has come a long way from her live-in babysitter and romantically entangled role in All My Children, starring in such movies as Angela’s Eyes, Mad Men, and Suits.
The actress will reunite with pal Krista Vernoff for their sixth project together. They have previously worked on projects such as Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and three others. Their creative collaborations have lived for as long as 15 years, and apparently still counting. Krista Vernoff served as the creator of the series and will executive produce the show alongside Erin Brockovich and six others.
Abigail Spencer will play the role of Misha, a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon who has a painful romantic history with Nate (Kevin Zegers) but can’t resist getting involved with studying the Stonemore heart valve in fear that she may inadvertently have harmed hundreds of patients.
Following the announcement, Spencer will join a list of recently announced recurring acts played by actors such as Mary McDonnell, Adam Arkin, and Matthew Glave, among others.
The official synopsis of the upcoming movie reads, “Annie ‘Rebel’ Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.” I for one want to see those sentences play out on stage.
Spencer is currently being represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment. The true detective actress has other things that keeps her busy apart from acting, like a recently launched pandemic-pivot florist company County Life Florals, which she said brings to life a dream in the loving memory of her late father and surfing champ, Yancy Spencer III.
The actress retweeted the announcement of her role to the delight of her fans. She wrote, “So so SO thrilled to be serving @KristaVernoff’s vision & supporting @KateySagal ‘a marvelosity & telling @ErinBrockovich‘s story. Three badass hero-lady-humans. I am the lucky one. Thanks for having me!”
