Royal Family News: If Princess Anne’s Fifth Grandchild is a Boy He Will be a Royal Rule Breaker

British royal family news reveals that Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall are expecting a third child this year and Baby Tindall could usher in a change to the monarchy.

Royal Family News: Zara Tindall is Pregnant

When Zara Tindall delivers her baby it will be the Queen and Prince Philip’s 10th great-grandchild. She is their eldest granddaughter and she is married to former rugby star Mike Tindall. They have two daughters, Mia and Lena.

The proud dad was the one who broke the news, on his podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby. He said, “It’s been a good week for me, had a little scan last week – third Tindall on its way.”

Mike said, “We like to play our cards close to the chest. We haven’t told Mia yet because we knew she would tell everyone at school. Now that we’ve gone through the scan, yes (of) course we’ll tell her.”

“She’ll be happy about it, she’s been requesting another sister or brother, so we’ve hopefully fulfilled that role for her. She just wants something different now.”

Royal Family News: The Queen is Expecting At Least Two Great Grandchildren This Year

He went on to say, “Lena’s growing up – she’s two-and-a-half now – she wants something younger to play with and dress up!”

So far Zara’s mom, Princess Anne, has four granddaughters, two from her son Peter Philipps and two from Zara. So, if Zara has a baby boy it will be Anne’s very first grandson.

Mike got candid on his podcast, saying, “I’d like a boy this time, I’ve got two girls, I would like a boy. I’ll love it whether a boy or a girl – but please be a boy.”

If Baby Tindall is a boy, he will invoke another royal milestone!

Royal Family News: Will Princess Anne Become grandmother to a grandson soon?

That’s because the little sir will become the second member of the Royal Family to reap the benefits of changes to the UK family’s rules of male primogeniture.

In short, in 2013 the Succession to the Crown Act changed the provisions of the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement, abolishing the system of male primogeniture. Male primogeniture is the rule that allows a younger son to displace an elder daughter in the line of succession.

The new Act applies to those born after 2011, and at this time Princess Charlotte is the only member of the Royal Family to benefit from this change.
